Kanishka Wijetunga Kanishka was introduced to music at a very early age. His first public performances were on Sri Lankan radio and TV. At age 17 he formed his first band with Suresh Maliyadde. After moving to USA in the 90's, he started writing music, joined a 5-member pop/rock band, and partnered with his brother as a pro DJ. In 2006 he collaborated with Sri Lankan artists and released Sri Lankan Open House Party album. Island Nation EP is Kanishka's latest music project.

Ganesha Wijetunga Ganesha, like his brother, developed a keen interest in music at a very young age. After moving to USA Ganesha was introduced to the technical side of music by his music director in College, Mr. Ed Davis where he displayed an eager curiosity in learning all aspects of music production. Ganesha played bass in the Jazz band and Pep band while at College, did beats for albums, played in a 5 piece band, and also was a pro DJ.

Russell Ali Russell brings his signature guitar riffs to life in the Island Nation EP. Early in his career, he was endorsed by Ibanez® and Fender® guitar. After many years as a musician, Russell has established himself as a contemporary music producer for various Top 40 artists in USA. Russell first met Island nation’s front men Kanishka and Ganesha over seventeen years ago at a world music festival.

Lonneke Heuvelmans An accomplished singer by her own right, Lonneke lends her scintillating vocals to two back up tracks on the Island Nation EP. With a vocal suppleness ranging from pop to jazz, Lonneke adds a subtle but original pulse to the EP.

Suresh Maliyadde

Suresh joined Kanishka, Ganesha and Russell to work together in the making of Island Nation EP. A well known figure in the Sri Lankan music industry, this is his second major music project in USA.

Friends since high school, Suresh, Kanishka and Ganesha have stayed connected through musical collaborations from the two corners of the world.
